IGF Burundi (Internet Governance Forum Burundi) cares about protecting your personal data. This page explains what data we collect through the igf.bi website, why, and what your rights are.

2. Data we collect

We only collect data you voluntarily provide to us:

• Contact form: name, email address, subject and content of your message.
• Virtual assistant (chatbot): the content of messages exchanged with the assistant, linked to a technical session identifier (no personal identification is required to use the chatbot).

We do not collect browsing data for advertising purposes and do not use third-party tracking cookies.

3. Why we use this data

• To respond to requests sent via the contact form;
• To send you an automatic confirmation of your message;
• To provide relevant answers via the virtual assistant;
• To improve the quality and relevance of the site's content.

4. Who receives your data

Your data is processed by the IGF Burundi team. Some technical providers may access it strictly for the site to function:

• our hosting provider and email service provider;
• the provider of the language model used by the virtual assistant, to which the content of your chat messages is sent to generate a reply. This provider does not receive your name or email as part of that exchange.

We do not sell or rent your data to third parties for commercial purposes.

5. Retention period

Messages sent via the contact form are kept for as long as needed to handle your request, then archived for a reasonable period for internal follow-up. Chat exchanges with the virtual assistant are kept for a limited time to maintain conversation continuity and improve the service.

6. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data we hold about you at any time by contacting us via the contact form.

7. Security

The site is served over HTTPS and our administrative access is protected. We take reasonable steps to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure.
